Psychotherapist
215 Mountain Drive, 106, Destin, FL
I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, currently practicing at Destin Counseling Center in Destin, FL. I recently relocated to the Freeport/Destin area from Orlando, where I spent over four years working in the field of substance use treatment. I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University in 2011 and began my career as an elementary and substitute teacher in central Alabama. My passion for supporting others eventually led me to pursue a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Since entering the field, I’ve worked in a variety of settings, including women’s residential treatment, individual therapy, and couples counseling. I especially enjoy working with adolescents and adults. I believe strongly in the healing power of therapy and the importance of having a safe space to explore and reconnect with your authentic self. Everyone deserves that opportunity.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to create a warm, inviting space for therapy, both in-person and virtually. I use modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy as well when engaging with clients. Working with me, one can expect to have small, manageable outside tasks to complete between session dates as well.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My sessions are geared towards the specific client in question. However, my basic model is to have a brief introductory period at the start of each session (i.e. discussing basic previous week's events). From there, I move on to discussing victories and struggles with my clients from the previous week. After a few minutes, I move on to discuss the topic and assignment at hand for the day (i.e. the goal(s) for session that day). During session wrap up, I discuss key takeaways with clients as well as any outside assignment(s). Lastly, I schedule the next session.
