What should a new client know about working with you?

I like to think of myself as a "chill therapist" and often receive feedback like, "I was so nervous to begin therapy, but you made it feel really comfortable and are easy to talk to". I approach all of my clients with non-judgement, empathy, and a true desire to help. In my free time, I love to be creative, snowboard and hike with my partner and our dog, and enjoy hosting dinner parties, traveling and reading good books.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Typically, the process begins by a client reaching out with interest in beginning therapy. We set up a free consultation call, which typically lasts anywhere between 10-30 minutes. During this call, I ask questions to understand why you are seeking out therapy services now, what values and characteristics you are looking for in a therapist, and any other expectations you may have. I also answer any questions you may have, and then we may discuss administrative details like insurance, scheduling, policies and procedures. I invite us to reflect on if we both feel like we could be good fits for one another and then we decide whether or not to book an initial appointment. During an initial appointment, I typically complete a wholistic, BioPsychoSocial intake in which we will discuss your history. I attempt to make this conversational and comfortable so that while I am gathering a lot of information about you, you will also get to know me some and we can begin building rapport. The intake sometimes can take two sessions to complete. At the end of the intake process we discuss specific goals (short and long term) and develop a treatment plan together.
