Psychotherapist
2254 San Diego Ave, San Diego, CA
I’m an authentic, kindness-first, undeniably human therapist who is passionate about walking alongside clients as they pursue their best life. I have a strong interest in helping individuals with OCD and anxiety, those navigating the perinatal period/early parenthood or fertility journeys, and folks going through major life transitions. I have experience working with adults and young adults with OCD, anxiety, panic, depression, and trauma. I’ve worked with many new mothers, pregnant women, and folks adjusting to parenthood or early childhood. I also enjoy supporting people who are experiencing other major life transitions, such as the loss of a loved one, a big move, recent breakups, beginning a fertility journey, career changes, etc. I have worked extensively with parents of young children and have clinical training in early childhood development and mental health, so I practice from a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework, drawing on evidence-based tools like Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness to build a therapeutic experience tailored just for you. More than just having professional training, I "get it" because I have walked these paths myself. I know firsthand how heavy and isolating it can be to navigate OCD (and ERP treatment), anxiety, a high-risk pregnancy and traumatic birth, a NICU baby, and postpartum mental health challenges. The experiences that I have had during the many different chapters of my life mean that I understand the raw reality of these struggles from the inside out. The provider is an Associate Clinical Social Worker and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is Freedom Within Therapy and Wellness Center.

What should a new client know about working with you?

If we work together, you will likely hear me frequently say “If something feels like it isn’t helpful, or maybe I’m just not understanding, I want you to tell me - this is your therapy, not mine, and I’m here to support YOU!”. I feel that this sentiment encompasses my approach as a therapist. I want therapy to feel truly meaningful for each client that I work with, and I know that humans don’t get it right 100% of the time. I really value feedback and work to cultivate a therapeutic experience that feels highly customized for each individual. In sessions, I lean heavily on humor and authenticity, along with radical transparency - I believe that “clear is kind,” and open and honest communication is the best way to build strong relationships in and outside of the therapy room. I also really value getting to know my clients on a deep level and am open to clients also getting to know who I really am - I want us to be able to laugh together, for you to be able to cry if you need to, or swear, or just sit in silence for a few moments. Healing is never linear, and I don’t find that rigidity in therapy is often the most helpful for most people. My first and most important goal as a therapist is to show up with warmth and genuine caring and support you exactly as you are in that moment. Sessions might look different each week until we find the approach that feels right for you, or they may be more structured if that feels more aligned with your needs, and I’m right next to you for the journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe that real, long-lasting healing and change happens within strong, safe, and authentic therapeutic relationships and that we are all learners on this journey that we call life. I don’t approach therapy as an expert who has all the answers, but rather as a fellow human being with some expertise and knowledge who is ready to jump in and walk alongside you as you develop your own way of thriving.
