Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Caroline! I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Auburn University. Based on my experiences and training, I take a developmental approach to helping clients build strategies and skills to manage challenges. I believe our early experiences shape the way we handle distress, problem-solve, and develop relationships. My training in attachment, infant and early childhood mental health, as well as play therapy, have not only served me well in my work with young children but also with clients of all ages since I tend to view current challenges through a developmental lens. I am a big believer in helping clients figure out how our stories explain our strengths and challenges. My approach I am a marriage and family therapist by training, which means I believe we exist within a system of the relationships we were born into and the ones we develop as we grow. I prefer to match my clinical interventions to the strengths and needs of my clients, so I take an integrative approach. I like to ensure clients understand brain development and how our nervous systems work to manage stress. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is one treatment model I prefer since it helps with emotion regulation and managing distress. I am a rostered provider of Child-Parent Psychotherapy and have trained in multiple play therapy models, all with a focus on attachment-based interventions. This means I work under the belief that if wounding happens in a relationship, so does healing. My focus For most of my professional experience, I've worked with families raising young children at a community mental health center. Families have included biological, foster, and adoptive parents and/or grandparents as well as the children they care for from pregnancy and onward. I'm happy working with clients of all ages.
