Caroline Tuttle, LCSWA

Psychotherapist
500 N Ennis St, Fuquay-Varina, NC
I was born and raised in Apex, North Carolina. I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work from East Carolina University in 2017 and my Master’s in Social Work from North Carolina State University in 2022, with a focus in clinical counseling. I’m currently working toward licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate (LCSWA) and pursuing certification as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). I work with children, teens, and families, and I believe the most meaningful growth happens through authentic connection, creativity, and a space where kids and teens feel safe, understood, and valued. I draw on approaches like CBT, solution-focused brief therapy, strengths-based therapy, and child-centered play therapy for younger clients, adapting to what fits your child best. My goal is to create a welcoming space where you and your family feel safe, heard, and comfortable as we move through the process together, at a pace that feels right for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Whether your child is working through big feelings, school-related stress, or just needs a space to be themselves, I want sessions to feel safe, encouraging, and a little fun. I meet kids and teens where they are, using play, creativity, and practical tools to help them understand their emotions and build coping skills they can actually use. I believe the parent-child relationship is a huge part of the work, so I partner closely with caregivers, not just the child in the room, to support growth at home as well as in session. You can expect a warm, non-judgmental space for your family, and I’ll take the time to understand what matters most to you so our work together feels meaningful, not one-size-fits-all.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Before your first session, our Client Care Coordinator, Heather, will reach out to complete paperwork and make sure I’m a good match for what you’re looking for — so we can focus on you from the beginning. For teens, a parent joins for part of the first session before I begin meeting individually with the teen. For younger children, the first session is parents only, with both parents encouraged to attend. If parents are divorced, both must consent to treatment. After that, I meet with your child using developmentally appropriate approaches such as Child-Centered Play Therapy, art, and sand tray therapy. I also meet with parents every 4–6 weeks to discuss progress and ways to support goals at home. Regardless of age, therapy is collaborative, individualized, and designed to grow and change with you.
