Carolyn Goosby, LCSW

Psychotherapist
IL
My name is Carolyn Goosby. I am an experienced licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and pastoral counselor with over twenty years of practice. I am a great listener and encourager. I am also an ordained and licensed minister. Spiritual growth and faith development are central to both my personal life and practice. Relationships, serving, and caring are core values for me. I hold a Doctorate in Ministry (D.Min.) and a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Chicago Theological Seminary, as well as a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Chicago. I use a client-centered therapeutic approach, primarily working with adults facing grief, anxiety, depression, workplace challenges, and relationship issues. My approach I have a person-centered approach and maintain a non-judgmental stance. I am resolution-focused yet compassionate, using an eclectic situational framework tailored to each client’s needs. My focus I assist adult clients with grief, anxiety, depression, relationship or workplace issues, low self-esteem, and spiritual development. My communication style I strive to create a casual, soft, open, relaxed, and comforting environment. My tone and style are generally non-confrontational. My journey to therapy A woman chaplain on the police force, who counseled on duty while attending seminary, greatly influenced my life and call to become a counselor and minister. I have always desired to help people struggling to live their best lives, especially those with little to no resources. I want to help change lives for the better. My goals for you We establish treatment goals initially and review them regularly, often weekly, to track progress. My first session with you Clients can expect to complete an initial assessment, establish a baseline treatment plan, review policies, discuss next steps, exchange contact information, and—if appropriate—open and close with prayer. We will also set the next appointment, have a Q&A, and provide a session summary.
