Carrie Allen, LPC

Psychotherapist
MO
Hi, I’m Carrie—a Licensed Professional Counselor and nationally certified therapist in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), with additional training (but not certified) in Child-Parent Psychotherapy. I take an eclectic approach, blending trauma-focused care, eating disorder treatment, compassion-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT—a skills-based model that helps balance acceptance and change), mindfulness, and person-centered strategies. I also believe therapy should be creative and engaging. Writing, worksheets, games, and even music often find their way into sessions, because healing isn’t one-size-fits-all. I practice from a non-secular stance, meaning I do not bring my personal views on spirituality, religion, or politics into the session. However, I will openly include these topics when clients request them, always centering your perspective and needs. My practice emphasizes creating safe, affirming spaces for non-believers, earth-based spirituality, LGBTQ+, veterans and military families, parents, and survivors of violence. I welcome the messy, the misfits, and those who feel unseen or unsupported. As I often tell clients, “I am a lighthouse rather than a lifeboat. I do not rescue, but instead help others find their own way to shore, guiding them by my example.”
