Psychotherapist
CA
Hello, my name is Carrie Anderson, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have over 10 years of experience in mental health and have been licensed for 3 years. I earned my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I have worked in crisis settings with adults and currently work with school-aged youth. My approach I utilize a person-centered approach primarily, using empathy, equality, and a non-judgmental attitude to meet you where you are. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused approaches. My focus I typically work with school-age youth, ranging from 5 to 18 years old. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, PTSD, and grief. My communication style I believe it's important to create a relaxed, comfortable, and inviting environment to help relieve anxiety about being in a therapist's office so that each person feels secure and at ease. My journey to therapy During my undergraduate education, I took a psychology class that I found intriguing and wanted to learn more about. It opened my eyes to mental health, and combined with personal experience with family members who have struggled with mental illness, it sparked my passion to help others through this. My goals for you I work together with each individual to develop attainable goals tailored to their unique diagnosis. My first session with you During our first session, I will ask questions to get to know you better, understand what you may be struggling with, and discuss goals to work on together in therapy.
