Carrie Schear, LCSW

Psychotherapist
204 Vehorn Rd, Fairview, NC
I am a licensed therapist with over 17 years of experience supporting individuals across a wide range of settings, including schools, correctional facilities, in-home programs, inpatient care, community based mental health, wilderness therapy, and early childhood environments. My approach is grounded, compassionate, and tailored to meet you exactly where you are. I specialize in working with women navigating life transitions, parenting, perinatal mental health, stress, trauma, and relationship challenges. As a mother of three, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience into the therapy space, especially when supporting parents through the complexities of caregiving, identity, and emotional wellbeing. My work integrates evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with holistic and experiential approaches, including nervous system regulation informed by polyvagal theory, yoga-based techniques, sand tray therapy, and nature-based mindfulness. My office is located on 10 acres of peaceful land, offering a unique opportunity for grounding and connection with nature as part of the healing process. Clients often describe me as down-to-earth, creative, and easy to talk to. I value authenticity, humor, and building a genuine therapeutic relationship where you can feel safe, understood, and supported. Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready for change, I’m here to walk alongside you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
