Cary brings extensive experience to Argo Counseling, starting with his B.A. in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He graduated in 1998 and immediately pursued a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Maryland, graduating with a 4.0 GPA and membership in the Honor Society. His first of four internships began in 1996 at Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital, where he gained expertise in managing severe psychiatric concerns at the inpatient level, learning crisis management and interventions to stabilize adult patients. In 1997, Cary interned at the Johns Hopkins Infant Language Institute, participating in research to support language development in young children. These internships laid the foundation for his broad clinical background with adults and children. During his master’s program, Cary completed two internships from 1999 to 2001 with the Family Preservation Program at Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services and at Woodbourne Day School in Baltimore. Here, he gained clinical knowledge in supporting children and families, specializing in youth with significant mental health challenges and the role of extended support networks in recovery. After completing his education, Cary’s expertise grew through roles at The Pathways Program for addiction treatment in Annapolis, working with men and women with substance abuse disorders, and at Crownsville Hospital Center starting in 2001 as a social worker on an adolescent psychiatric inpatient unit. In 2005, he provided therapeutic services for 28 chronically mentally ill patients in supervised housing through Psychotherapeutic Treatment Services in Annapolis. These roles enhanced his skills serving vulnerable populations requiring expert therapeutic skill and diverse interventions.
