Hi! I am 38 years old, a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience working with a wide range of identities, settings, and issues. I love diversity and variety in my work and generally get along with just about anyone. I have a curious and creative mind and spirit. I am from Elkins and live in Huntington. My approach I approach clients with care, respect, and honor for their uniqueness and value. I am warm, friendly, and open-minded. Most folks find me very approachable and build rapport quickly. I have an easygoing, collaborative approach with clients and like to create an accepting, safe, and comfortable environment first and foremost. My focus I tend to get along with just about anyone and love variety! Some of my favorite populations include older school aged children around 10 and up, adolescents, younger adults, and parent/child/family. However I love seeing clients of all ages and cultures. I am a passionate and vocal advocate for diversity, equality, social justice, and LGBTQ+folks. My communication style I start off gently and do not rush, build trust, and identify my client's preferences and needs. I take a tailored approach and adjust as needed. I ask curious questions, listen to understand, empathize, never judge, and never tell people what to do. I provide feedback, suggestions, teach skills, and encourage. I like to joke and not be too formal. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been fascinated and curious by other people and their behavior. I love to listen, learn, share, and connect. I have always loved to help, teach, and lead. I have a very big heart and just love to help, encourage, and empower others. I had some tough times growing up and learned a lot of sensitivity to others through my own growth. My goals for you In order to help clients reach their goals, I provide a thorough assessment and try to understand and get on the same page with the client.
