I believe counseling should be a place where you can show up as you are—without judgment, pressure, or the expectation that you have everything figured out. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor providing telehealth services to clients throughout Texas. I work with preteens, adolescents, and adults experiencing anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, relationship and communication difficulties, low self-esteem, burnout, and the everyday challenges that can make life feel overwhelming. My approach to counseling is collaborative, practical, and individualized. I primarily draw from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Strength-Based approaches, and Motivational Interviewing. Rather than applying one method to every client, I use an integrative approach based on each person's needs, personality, goals, and stage of life. I especially enjoy helping clients better understand themselves, recognize what is within their control, develop healthier boundaries and communication skills, identify their strengths, and make realistic changes that improve their everyday lives. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, struggling with anxiety or overwhelm, working through relationship concerns, or simply realizing that something in your life needs to change, counseling can provide a space to slow down, sort through what is happening, and determine what comes next.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My counseling style is warm, conversational, supportive, and straightforward. Therapy with me does not have to feel overly formal or clinical. I want you to feel comfortable talking openly, asking questions, laughing when appropriate, and bringing in whatever is actually happening in your life that week. I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you what decisions to make, but to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, patterns, relationships, and choices so you can make decisions that align with what matters to you. I will support and encourage you, but I will also gently challenge you when I notice patterns, beliefs, or behaviors that may be keeping you stuck. We may explore what is within your control, look at situations from another perspective, practice communication or coping skills, identify boundaries, or break a problem into smaller and more manageable steps. I also recognize that progress does not look the same for everyone. Some clients come to therapy with a very specific goal, while others simply know that something feels off and need a place to begin. We can start there. You do not need to prepare the “right” things to talk about before a session. Come as you are, and we will figure out where to go together.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session is primarily about getting to know you. We will discuss what brought you to counseling, what has been happening in your life, your history and current concerns, and what you would like to be different as a result of therapy. You do not need to have clearly defined goals before we begin—we can develop those together. After the initial session, therapy becomes more individualized. A typical session usually begins with checking in about how things have been since we last met. From there, we may discuss something that happened during the week, continue working through an ongoing concern, explore thoughts or emotions that have been difficult to understand, or focus on progress toward your goals. Depending on what you need that day, sessions may include identifying patterns, challenging unhelpful thoughts, discussing boundaries or relationships, practicing communication and coping strategies, problem-solving, exploring what is within your control, or simply having a safe place to process something difficult. With younger clients, sessions are adapted to their developmental level and may include more structured activities, examples, skill-building, and conversations about school, friendships, family relationships, emotions, and everyday situations they are navigating. Therapy is collaborative and flexible. There is no requirement to arrive every week with a major problem to solve. Sometimes progress comes from working through something difficult, and sometimes it comes from recognizing what is already going well and learning how to build on it.
