Hi there, I'm Casey! My name is Casey Nielsen. I'm a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. My approach I use various modalities, and we will talk through what feels best for you. I am trained in EMDR and the AIR (Adaptive Internal Relational) Network model. I also pull from CBT, DBT, IMR, IFS, and others. My focus I do most of my work with people in the LGBTQ+ community, people in any stage of substance use recovery and/or with co-occurring disorders, and those who have experienced various forms of trauma. My communication style In a session, I'm holding space for you to come as you are and bring in whatever is coming up for you. I'm going to listen to you attentively, provide feedback, ask questions, and use some well-placed humor. My journey to mental healthcare I've worked in mental health in some capacity since 2011. I've loved getting to know people and learn new things. After working in a supportive residence for adults living with serious and persistent mental illnesses, I had a desire to further my education to be able to continue this work. I went back to school in 2017 for my Master's degree. My goals for you Goal setting is a collaborative process that we will discuss throughout our work together. I will follow your lead in creating goals. My first session with you The first session doesn't have to be scary or daunting. We'll spend time getting to know each other and talking about your reasons for coming to therapy. I'll answer any questions you might have.
