What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that each person who comes to therapy has their own, unique experience. I empower clients, so that they are able to feel confident in their newfound strengths and abilities. While I will meet the clients where they are, I also believe in challenging a client's views that will allow them to look at problems from a new perspective. The process of therapy can be overwhelming, but I am here to offer support and guidance during this time. As the client, you are in the driver's seat, and it is up to you in what direction we drive and how quickly we get there. Each client brings forth their own individual life experiences, and I will work with you to ensure your distinct needs and goals are met. I have experience working in a private practice setting that specialized in OCD and anxiety-based disorders, therefore, I am trained in utilizing exposure response prevention (ERP) to manage the symptoms associated with OCD and other disorders. My practice demographics include couples, parents, and adults with learning disabilities.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My therapy style is focused on a behavioral approach and solution focused. I believe our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all directly related. By understanding how we engage with distressing thoughts, we can then begin to modify the behaviors and feelings that accompany them. I mainly use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and individual psychology when treating clients with various presenting problems. I work closely with clients to set long and short-term goals that will give them the opportunity to celebrate small victories while still working towards their main goals. I do my best to have an open and genuine dialogue with clients, so they can feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings in session.
