Cassandra Sissom, LPC, LCPC

Psychotherapist
IL
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC, LCPC) with over 14 years of experience helping clients move through anxiety, burnout, and identity struggles toward greater self-trust and clarity. I specialize in working with high-achieving Millennials and Gen Z professionals—many of whom are LGBTQ+—who feel overwhelmed by the pressure to keep it all together. My approach is affirming, trauma-informed, and rooted in evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and solution-focused work. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy—I believe in real conversations, practical tools, and a space where you can finally stop performing and just be. If you're navigating career stress, relationship conflict, or a shift in identity or purpose, you're not alone. Therapy with me is about building insight, boundaries, and resilience—so you can create a life that actually feels like yours.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don’t have to show up perfect—just real. My style is direct but compassionate, and I’ll meet you with curiosity, not judgment. I’ll hold space for your big emotions and hard questions, while also helping you build practical tools to navigate life outside the therapy room. Expect a space where your identity is affirmed, your boundaries are respected, and your goals actually matter. Whether you're feeling stuck, burned out, anxious, or just not like yourself, we’ll work together to untangle what’s going on—and help you reconnect with the version of you that feels most true.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

After a free 15-minute consultation, our first full session is all about getting to know you. I’ll ask a lot of questions—not just about symptoms, but about who you are, the important people in your life, and the areas where stress, anxiety, or burnout are showing up. Together, we’ll look at the full picture and build a plan that fits your goals and values. Ongoing sessions are collaborative and focused on what’s most present for you each week. We’ll follow up on any action steps, reflections, or real-life “experiments” between sessions, fine-tune what’s working, and tackle what’s not. I use evidence-based interventions—like CBT, trauma-informed approaches, and solution-focused strategies—paired with practical tools and supportive homework to keep momentum going between sessions. You can expect a space that’s affirming, goal-oriented, and grounded in real life—not just talk, but growth.
