Catherine Faro, LCSW

Psychotherapist
1225 Franklin Ave, Ste 325, Garden City, NY
I work with adults who feel stuck, unsettled, or affected by patterns they don’t fully understand. Many of my clients come to therapy during periods of transition or after realizing that coping strategies they have tried themselves , or developed in previous experiences with therapy alone haven’t brought the clarity or relief they were hoping for. With over a decade of experience, my approach is insight-oriented and focused on helping clients understand the deeper roots of their distress. I believe meaningful change happens when we take time to explore how past and present experiences shape emotions, relationships, and self-awareness—not just how to manage symptoms in the moment. Therapy with me is collaborative, reflective, and grounded in curiosity. Together, we work to turn confusion into understanding, and understanding into purposeful forward movement. My goal is to help you feel more connected to yourself, more confident in your choices, and better equipped to move into the next chapter of your life with meaning and intention. I welcome new clients to schedule an appointment if you’re looking for a thoughtful, depth-focused approach to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I really take the time to listen and understand your way of being, as having as best of an understanding of your world is one of my priorities. I enjoy connecting your insights, thoughts, emotional sentiments, and experiences to previous sessions we have had, and enjoy working with you to identify patterns in your world between your interactions, and relationships in your life. My style also emphasizes keeping what you want to see change in your life (or, perhaps not change) to work with you in seeking clarity in who you are, defining what matters to you the most in seeking meaning, and finding ways to share these unique features with others that you care most about. I also find it important to remain in good humor and work together to enjoy the process of what we come to find, rather than just the outcome.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process includes a phone conversation before we get started to find mutuality in your search for a good fit, then we will review the mechanics of getting started including finding a schedule that works (I am very flexible), as well as discussing financial obligations. If utilizing benefits, I always call insurance companies for my clients before our first appointment for clarity and certainty. Then, we move forward with scheduling. I almost always can get a new client started within 72 hours.

Initial session: $175 for 60 minutes
Ongoing session: $175 for 53 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork

Insurance can be complicated, but being out-of-network doesn’t have to stop us from working together- many of my clients find that their out-of-network status still provides significant coverage. We’ll make sure you have clarity on costs before we even book our first session.
