Hello, I'm Cathleen Rodriguez LPC-5955. Counseling is the unique journey of one person’s self-discovery, acceptance, forgiveness, and letting go to obtain the potential they desire (which already resides within them) through skills and tools taught by the counselor. The counselor facilitates change and health improvement. Counseling involves the whole person, not just one aspect of who they are, have been, or will be. One must consider environment, biology, perception, experience, and emotion to truly comprehend their complexity. Counseling is a multi-faceted understanding of the human experience. My approach Therapy is a collaborative process where the counselor brings therapeutic tools to assist the client in their focus and goals. I have used approaches including CBT, DBT, Narrative, Strength-based, Solution-focused, and Client-centered. I offer an eclectic approach where the client's needs guide which tools are used, making each therapeutic experience unique. My focus I have worked in this field for over nine years with diverse populations including individuals who have experienced trauma and abuse, Veterans, individuals with Autism and Bipolar disorders, and those struggling with depression, PTSD, and anxiety across various ages. Each journey is unique. My communication style Counseling is first a safe place where the client feels heard and validated; rapport is the first order of the day. If a client does not feel comfortable and safe, the experience will not be effective, so I focus on making clients feel this safety within sessions. My journey to mental healthcare Before therapy, I was a school teacher. I transitioned to counseling when my health prevented me from returning to schools. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from Grand Canyon University, which equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support my clients effectively.
