I became a counselor because I know what it's like to look "fine" on the outside while everything inside feels like it's running on fumes. For a long time, I thought the answer was just trying harder. Being more disciplined. Thinking my way out of it. Spoiler: that didn't work. What actually changed things was understanding the pattern underneath — not just the feelings on top. That's what I help my clients do now. I work with adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship struggles. Not by giving you a list of coping skills and sending you on your way. But by helping you see why your brain keeps doing what it does — and how to actually change it. I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because they don't just ask "how does that make you feel?" They ask "what is that pattern costing you — and what would you do differently if it wasn't running the show?" I'm part of Acceptance Path Counseling, a Texas-based practice built around one idea: therapy should change how you live, not just how you feel. If you've been managing life instead of actually living it — that's exactly where we'd start.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Two things. First — I'm warm, but I'm direct. I care deeply about my clients, and part of how that shows up is that I won't let you stay comfortable in a pattern that's shrinking your life. I'll laugh with you. I'll sit with you in the hard stuff. But I'll also call it like I see it — with kindness, not judgment. If you want someone who nods politely for 50 minutes and says "and how does that make you feel?" — I'm probably not your person. If you want someone who actually helps you understand what's happening and gives you something real to work with? That's what I do. Second — you don't need to have it all figured out before your first session. You don't need to know the "right" things to say. Most of my clients show up and say "I don't even know where to start." That's completely fine. That's literally what I'm here for. We'll figure out where to start together. And within the first few sessions, you'll have a clear picture of the specific patterns keeping you stuck — and a real path forward. Not vague advice. A real map.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a free consultation — a short conversation to make sure we're a good fit. No pressure. No commitment. Just a real conversation about what's going on. If we move forward, the first few sessions are about understanding your specific patterns. Not just what you're feeling — but what your brain is doing with those feelings. The avoidance. The overthinking. The shutting down. The loops. Most people have never had someone actually explain the mechanics of what's happening inside them. That part alone changes things for a lot of my clients. From there, we work on building a different response. Not suppressing what you feel — but learning to act on what matters to you even when the discomfort is still there. I use ACT and CBT because they're practical. You'll leave sessions with something concrete — not just insight, but actual tools and shifts you can use that week. Sessions are virtual, so you can meet from wherever feels comfortable. And if at any point the fit doesn't feel right, Acceptance Path offers a Reset Guarantee — we'll match you with another provider, no questions asked, at no extra cost. The hardest part is booking the first session. Everything after that gets easier.
