Hi there, I'm Cecelia! Cecelia Garvey-Burche is a RI Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), a RI licensed school psychologist, and holds lifetime Authorized Provider status in WI. She received her undergraduate degree and her MEd in Educational Psychology from Marquette University. She has experience working with couples, individuals, and families across a broad range of ages. She is currently working with adults, ages 18 and older. My approach When first meeting a new client, I always use a "Client Centered" approach. As I get to know my client and understand their personality and individual needs, I'm then able to draw upon more specific, focused theoretical approaches. My focus In working with clients 18 and older, my areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem, coping skills, relationship building, conflict resolution, and skill and career building. My communication style My number one goal when working with a client is that they feel I am actively listening while providing a calm and supportive environment. All of this allows us to build a trusting therapeutic relationship. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been drawn to being a caregiver and healer. I enjoy getting to know people and helping them on their individual journeys. I have been doing this work for over three decades and retain the same commitment and love of working with people. My goals for you This will vary client to client while determining the difference between wants and needs. We identify objectives as we work on both short- and long-term goals. My first session with you Clients should feel at ease and have confidence they have found a therapist they can relate to and work with. They should expect to build a preliminary plan and feel comfortable that they can safely voice their opinions.
