“The first visit I have had so far was great! I was able to be comfortable enough to open up to her. I felt like I could be myself. She was able to make me laugh and be calm. She was understanding, patient, caring and flexible with me. I’m so lucky and blessed to have found my new therapist! ”

Getting to know Chardonney Washington

My name is Chardonney Washington, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Gadsden, Alabama, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master?s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Fort Valley State University. I work with individuals aged 14 to 99 and specialize in grief, stress, and mood disorders. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy to help my clients make progress on their healing journey. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on each client?s needs. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy, as both help build a shared understanding of their reality and allow us to work together to chart a path forward. I also utilize Person-Centered Therapy quite frequently. My focus I have found that being my true authentic self helps others do the same. I consider myself a people?s person and don?t believe we have to fit into a ?textbook? image to thrive. I love meeting new people who want to progress. I especially enjoy allying with new adults, the LGBTQIA+ community, and BIPOC individuals. I also love working with transitioners and those just figuring out life. My communication style My communication style is direct, bold, and personable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a counselor because I have always loved helping others. I grew tired of seeing mental illness treated as a taboo and realized that if I wanted to see change, I needed to be one of the people creating it. I enjoy witnessing people heal from what once hurt them or kept them silent. I love seeing people love themselves out loud. My goals for you My approach to goal setting with clients is all about working together to define what you want to accomplish in our time together.
