Charles Karsters, LMHC

Psychotherapist
HI
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) providing telehealth therapy for adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationship stress, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and patterns that no longer feel sustainable. My approach is collaborative, grounded, and insight-oriented, while also focusing on practical tools that support nervous system regulation, emotional clarity, and long-term stability. I integrate approaches including EMDR-informed work, parts-focused exploration, attachment and nervous system awareness, mindfulness, and supportive psychotherapy. I value creating a space where clients can slow down, reflect honestly, and move toward greater self-understanding without feeling rushed or pathologized. Many of the people I work with are highly self-aware, capable, and caring toward others, yet may feel emotionally exhausted, stuck in survival mode, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to move forward in a more sustainable way. Therapy can support creating more clarity, boundaries, self-trust, and alignment in both personal and professional life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. I aim to create a space where clients feel emotionally safe while also being supported in exploring patterns, relationships, stress responses, and deeper emotional experiences with honesty and curiosity. I believe therapy works best when it balances insight with practical support. Sessions may include exploring current stressors, identifying nervous system patterns, building emotional regulation tools, processing past experiences when appropriate, and helping clients move toward more grounded and sustainable ways of living. I work at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of each person’s readiness and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the beginning, I focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, your current stressors, personal history, strengths, and what you hope to gain from the process. Early sessions often involve building safety, identifying patterns, and creating a clearer understanding of how emotional, relational, and nervous system responses may be impacting daily life. Depending on your needs and goals, sessions may include supportive talk therapy, skill-building, mindfulness and grounding strategies, attachment-focused exploration, or EMDR-informed approaches. Some sessions are more reflective and insight-oriented, while others may focus more on stabilization, coping, or navigating immediate life challenges. My goal is to help clients feel more connected to themselves, more emotionally regulated, and better able to move through life with clarity and stability.
