Getting to know Charles Smith
People are far more than the challenges that bring them to therapy. I strive to get to know the whole person, not just what brings them in, and build our work together from there. As a biracial male, my own journey has been deeply informed by navigating identity and trauma.
I’m especially passionate about creating a space for those who may find it difficult to seek support, including men who have felt pressure to appear strong or believe they should handle things on their own. I want clients to know they can show up as they are, without judgment, and feel comfortable exploring their experiences.
Whether you're navigating trauma or PTSD, depression, anxiety, or questions of identity and belonging, you don’t have to navigate these challenges alone.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I enjoy working with teens, men, and adults. My work focuses on Multicultural Challenges, Trauma and PTSD, Anxiety and Stress, Depression, Emotional Regulation, Anger Management, Impulse Control, and Communication & Relationships.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My approach is strengths-based and trauma-informed, recognizing that everyone has the ability to grow and work through difficult experiences. I know that carrying a lot on your own can be exhausting, and having a space where you can talk openly and feel understood can make a difference. Therapy gives you the opportunity to work through what you’ve been holding onto, better understand yourself, and figure out what moving forward looks like for you. My goal is to provide a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, without judgment.
