GA
I am Charles Zaglin, a Trauma, Complex Trauma, and PTSD LPC with 20+ years of experience as a Traumatologist and over 55 years as a PTSD/Trauma survivor. I hold a Master's in Professional Counseling and a Bachelor's degree from Georgia State University. My style is empathic, eclectic, honest, humorous, and interactive. Together, we will tailor a protocol to fit your needs. I believe in ACKNOWLEDGEMENT and ACCEPTANCE. With regards to PTSD and Trauma, I take on a four "C" approach: Control, Courage, Compassion, and Choice. We will acknowledge your trauma without judgment, guilt, shame, fear, or self-blame and accept what happened-but not let it identify or define you. I most enjoy working with clients dealing with Trauma, Complex Trauma, and PTSD. I also support individuals not suffering from PTSD but battling symptoms such as depression, anxiety, night terrors, alcohol and drug dependence, and relationship issues involving loved ones and friends. This may include substance use, communication challenges within family or friendships, work-related issues, infidelity in romantic relationships, divorce, parenting concerns, and financial stress affecting individuals or multiple-person obligations. Grief and loss issues concerning family, friends, and fur-children alike are also areas I address. I expect a lot from myself and, therefore, expect a great deal from the comprehensive thoughts and actions of my clients. Thought without action is simply an idea that stays in our mind. We must take our valuable insight, disclosure, and realization and place these into action-to help ourselves, to ask for help when needed, and just as importantly, to be willing to help ourselves. Change comes from within, aided by those around us if possible. However, change can happen even if we are alone, as long as the desire is there.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is empathic, eclectic, honest, humorous, and interactive. Together we will tailor a protocol to fit your needs. I believe in ACKNOWLEDGEMENT and ACCEPTANCE. With regards to PTSD and Trauma, I take on a four "C" approach. That being "Control, Courage, Compassion and Choice ." We will acknowledge your trauma without judgement, guilt, shame, fear, or self-blame and accept what happened but not let it identify or define you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session we will begin to get to know each other and to start developing a sense of trust between the two of us. With this in mind, I will want to begin to understand what has brought you into therapy and what are your expectations for a positive outcome. There is a realization for the client that in most cases the issues that the client is facing did not usually happen overnight nor can it be resolved over night. The time that it takes for a positive therapuetic outcome is the time it takes. Every situation is different as is every individual. I do not measure success by time but by a positive effective result.
