Charmie Jean Baptiste, MS

Charmie Jean Baptiste, MS

Psychotherapist
NY
I'm Charmie, and I became a therapist because I grew up in a culture where mental health wasn't something you talked about. The solution to every problem was prayer, sleep, or silence. Therapy was dismissed. Watching that play out around me and seeing people struggle quietly because asking for help wasn't acceptable, is what fueled my passion for this work. I wanted to create a space where mental health is normalized, where stigma loses its power, and where people can actually feel seen and supported without judgment by someone who truly cares. Therapy with me is collaborative and straightforward. This is your time and your space to process and release what the outside world doesn't always give you room to hold. I'm empathetic and honest, but I'm also going to push you when you need it because change is always possible and it's never too late to start choosing yourself. Clients tell me they appreciate my energy and how genuine our work together feels. Sessions are engaging and motivating, and many people leave feeling lighter and clearer about what they need to do next. I bring warmth into the room, and I make it a point to let people know I'm genuinely glad to see them every single time.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients tell me they appreciate my energy and how genuine our work together feels. Sessions are engaging and motivating, and many people leave feeling lighter and clearer about what they need to do next. I bring warmth into the room, and I make it a point to let people know I'm genuinely glad to see them every single time. I work with adults 18 and up from all backgrounds and identities. If you feel like we might be a good fit, I'll do everything I can to show up fully for your journey.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Outside of sessions, I'm intentional about protecting my energy. I carve out one full day a week just to rest and reset because I can't pour from an empty cup. I recharge by spending time with family, reading, and staying curious about the world so I can keep growing both personally and professionally. If starting therapy feels intimidating, I want you to know that therapy isn't about “fixing” you. It's about giving you guidance while you navigate your life. You're in the driver's seat, and I'm right beside you offering encouragement, clarity, and the occasional gentle push when needed. You're navigating your own path, and it's okay to ask for support on the journey.
