Getting to know Chelsea Reitz

Chelsea Reitz is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of New Jersey, with license number 37PC01051600. She holds a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor’s degree from Commonwealth University - Bloomsburg. Have you been trying to "make time for yourself" but aren't quite sure what that looks like? Is it hard to explain "what you've been going through" to friends and family but you can't quite find the right words to say? I can help you make yourself a priority and instill positive self-care practices to create healthy patterns in your life. Positive self-talk, boundaries, and "me time" are all important aspects of self-care and can lead to healthier mental health. However, sometimes digging deeper and connecting your behaviors to the thoughts and feelings that motivate them can lead to greater understanding of yourself and answer the question, "Why do I do that?" Being vulnerable can be scary, but I can help you feel comfortable sharing and coping with difficult situations in order to move forward and gain strength from your life experiences. By utilizing the CBT and TF-CBT models and techniques, we can uncover some of those layers that cause us to ask these questions. Together, we can build a toolbox of skills to use when experiencing emotional and physical triggers and understand why your body reacts the way it does. With these skills and practices, we can implement them into daily life to help you feel more in control and confident with yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have worked at a school for children diagnosed with Autism as well as working one on one with children in a school and home setting. After graduating with my masters, I stepped into the outpatient field and has enjoyed working with children, adolescents, and adults. With extensive training, I have done work with individuals affected by Trauma using the TF-CBT model. I utilize a person-centered approach while also implementing skills from CBT and DBT."

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Feel free to pour a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever makes you feel cozy inside. Grab a blanket, and head to the most comfortable chair in your home. This is your no-judgment zone, your safe space. Be yourself and know that this space is for YOU. This is YOUR time to speak freely about things that are important to you. You are taking this time to balance your mind, body, and spirit. You have already taken the first step, thank you for allowing us to walk with you the rest of the way.
