Chelsea Sherman, LICSW

Psychotherapist
MN
My approach as a support person, whether that be as a therapist or otherwise, is to be person-centered and client-driven. I have experience and knowledge with many modalities, like CBT, DBT, PCIT, and others, but ultimately, my expertise is meeting people where they are and going at the pace that feels right for their journey. My approach I listen to what people would like to work on and the challenges in their lives they want to face, through a lens that is nonjudgmental and non-shaming. As a therapist or otherwise, one is to be person-centered and client-driven. My focus My ideal client focus tends to be in areas of trauma and/or major stress, and neurodivergent children/families, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I really enjoy working with individuals of all ages, and family dynamics as well, and have a lot of experience with a lot of different disorders and chronic illness challenges. My communication style My communication style is to be open-minded, nonjudgmental, and non-shaming. You can expect me to be calm, actively listening, and engaged during sessions, and at times when appropriate, using humor as well. My journey to mental healthcare I wanted to become a therapist because I have some lived experience myself that allowed me to learn first-hand what some clients experience, as well as build the skills and resilience to overcome those challenges in life, and I would like to spread that hope and knowledge to anyone who needs someone to be with them in their challenging times. My goals for you We set goals together based on what you'd like to change in/about your life, and work towards those goals. We check in regularly about progress towards those goals, and celebrate the wins together, and evaluate the more challenging moments together, as well as pivoting tactics or approaches if need be.
