My name is Dr Cheri Anderson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Michigan with over 20 years of experience as a mental health psychotherapist and an International Certified Gambling Counselor I earned my PhD in Counseling from Wayne State University, specializing in Counseling and Clinical Supervision My approach to therapy is to meet clients where they are, providing compassionate and caring emotional support The focus areas of my practice include—but are not limited to—commitment issues, divorce and separation, depression, domestic violence, family of origin issues, marital issues, mood disorders, obsessions and compulsions, process addictions (porn, exercise, gambling), stress, trauma, women’s issues, and young adult issues My approach I provide therapy for individuals, couples, and families The most common therapeutic modalities I use include—but are not limited to—Client-Centered Therapy, which demonstrates positive regard and empathy; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients understand the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors; Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which helps clients heal from trauma; Narrative Therapy, which helps clients identify values and skills; and Motivational Interviewing (MI), which supports clients in changing their behavior I also provide Christian-based therapy upon request My focus The clients I typically work with include individuals, couples, and families struggling with a variety of emotional concerns I have extensive experience supporting and helping people heal I am most comfortable working with clients who suffer from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, technology addictions, gambling addiction, communication issues, marital issues, anger management, stress due to occupational burnout, adjusting to college life, effective conflict resolution skills, childhood trauma, adult trauma, and life after the pandemic.
