Psychotherapist
CA
My name is China Hill-LoBue, and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California. I hold a Master’s degree from National Louis University. Using a primarily mindfulness- and ACT-based approach, I help clients change their relationship with distressing thoughts and feelings from one of hostility or avoidance to acceptance and compassion. This shift allows clients to better respond to life stressors, make values-based decisions, and relate more effectively to those around them. My therapeutic approach varies with client needs; however, I tend to utilize trauma-informed care, ACT, CBT, and mindfulness techniques. I have experience working with clients facing complex trauma (e.g., childhood), anxiety, mild to moderate depression, relationship issues, codependency, love addiction, anxious attachment, life transitions, school challenges, domestic violence, sexual trauma, and grief due to death or relational loss. My communication style is warm and engaging, modeling empathic curiosity that fosters greater self-acceptance. Clients feel both supported and challenged to identify and address patterns in their lives that no longer serve them. My journey to mental healthcare began after teaching in public schools in underserved communities for several years. I witnessed firsthand how difficult it is to meet life’s challenges—academic or otherwise—when feeling scared, overwhelmed, irritable, or lacking coping skills. After enrolling in a counseling program, I began addressing my own mental health struggles through counseling, support groups, and my relationship with God. These experiences motivate me to encourage, support, and assist others as a therapist. To help clients set goals, I start by asking open-ended questions that inspire them to envision how they would be living if they were no longer burdened by the issues currently affecting them.
