What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is a collaborative, judgment-free space. You are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offer perspective, and help you find tools that actually work for you. You do not need to have everything figured out before your first session. Many people start with "I just don't feel like myself," and that is a perfectly good place to begin. I work at your pace. If you have experienced trauma, we will not rush into difficult topics before you feel safe and ready. Your culture, family background, and lived experiences matter. I bring cultural humility into every session and respect the values that shape who you are. I work with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents. That means therapy can include the important people in your life when that would help. I believe in practical progress. Alongside the deeper work, you will leave sessions with skills and strategies you can use in daily life. My goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and supported from our very first conversation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Getting to know you: Our first session is a comprehensive assessment. We talk about what brings you to therapy, your history, current stressors, your strengths, and what you hope will change. It is also your chance to ask questions and see if we are a good fit. Building your plan: Together we create a personalized treatment plan with clear, realistic goals, written in your own words. Ongoing sessions: Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions. Our work combines talk therapy with evidence-based approaches such as CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy. We also build skills for managing emotions, stress, relationships, and daily challenges. For couples and families, sessions focus on communication, understanding, and rebuilding connection. Reviewing progress: We check in regularly on what is working and adjust the plan as your needs change. If extra support would help, such as a psychiatric evaluation or community resources, I will coordinate referrals and, with your permission, work with your wider care team. Moving forward: As you reach your goals, we gradually space out sessions and focus on maintaining your progress so you feel confident on your own.
