What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. You may know that something in your life doesn't feel right, find yourself repeating patterns you don't fully understand, or feel disconnected from the person you want to be. Therapy can provide a space to slow down, become curious about these experiences, and begin understanding yourself in a different way. When working with Chris, you can expect a space where you are encouraged to bring your full self without fear of judgment. He approaches each therapeutic relationship with curiosity, openness, and respect for the experiences and identities that have shaped you. Chris believes that every therapeutic relationship is unique. Rather than approaching therapy with a one-size-fits-all formula, he works collaboratively with you to understand what you need from the process. Together, you may explore relationships, identity, emotional patterns, past experiences, personal values, or the ways you respond to stress and uncertainty.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Chris begins by getting to know you beyond the immediate concern that brought you to therapy. Together, you will explore your experiences, relationships, identity, values, strengths, and the patterns that may be influencing your life today. The goal is not simply to reduce distress, but to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and create meaningful, sustainable change. Depending on your needs, Chris may incorporate emotional insight, mindfulness practices, trauma-informed perspectives, and elements of Buddhist philosophy into the therapeutic process. Sessions may involve identifying patterns, exploring difficult emotions, understanding how earlier experiences continue to influence the present, and developing greater awareness of how you relate to yourself and others. Chris believes that meaningful change often begins internally but extends far beyond the therapy room. As we develop greater awareness, compassion, and confidence in ourselves, we can begin to approach our relationships, careers, creative pursuits, and environments differently. When we change, the way we experience and engage with the world around us can change as well.
