“Chris is an amazing Therapist. He will literally allow you to talk through and have your own answers realized. Therapy is not about white and black, right and wrong according to societal norms. Chris has a way of making you realize how you are feeling is valid, and how to understand those feelings better and get to the root of the issue or trauma if there is something that is a maladaptive response to past traumas. ”

Getting to know Dr. Chris Stewart

Hello, I'm Chris. If you've ever felt alone in society or experienced stress related to unrealistic societal expectations designed for groups you don't feel part of, I may be a good fit for you. I approach my work with clients in a culturally informed way, focusing on feminist principles aimed at removing barriers while acknowledging the very real struggles faced by those outside the majority group. I have an extensive history of working with individuals from various minority backgrounds but specialize in supporting people who identify within the LGBTQ+ community. This includes offering affirming services and helping clients navigate coming out, family and peer relationships, and romantic and sexual concerns. I also have experience and training in gender-affirming services and seek to help clients discover and celebrate their true selves. I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Waynesburg University, which has equipped me with the skills to provide compassionate, effective care. While I specialize in the above areas, I am here to help anyone who needs it. Coming to therapy can be a scary experience, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. I strive to provide a warm, comforting, and supportive environment where you can be yourself and grow through whatever concerns bring you here. I look forward to working with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

During our first session, it's my goal to get to know you better and to work with you on setting some preliminary goals. Over the course of treatment, you will have an opportunity to gain a better understanding and self insight into your problems. In addition, I aim to also equip you with healthy coping skills that can be practiced outside of sessions as well as homework assignments that dig deeper into the issues we touch on during therapy sessions.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
