Christian Eric Erlenbush, LCSW, MSW

Psychotherapist
IL
I work with adults who feel worn down by the pace, pressure, and uncertainty of life right now. Many of my clients are successful on paper but privately struggling with anxiety, emotional exhaustion, relationship stress, or a sense that something just isn’t working anymore. Therapy with me is collaborative, grounded, and practical. I aim to create a space where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself, or minimize what you’re going through. We focus on helping you regain clarity, emotional steadiness, and a stronger sense of control—especially during times when the world feels unpredictable or overwhelming. My approach blends evidence-based therapy with real-world insight, helping clients not only understand themselves better but also make meaningful changes that improve daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.

Getting to know Christian Eric Erlenbush

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe working with me as calm, direct, and supportive without being overwhelming. I’m not the kind of therapist who simply listens and nods—I help you make sense of patterns, challenge what’s keeping you stuck, and develop tools you can actually use outside of sessions. Given the current social and economic stressors many people are facing, I’m especially mindful of burnout, decision fatigue, anxiety, and feeling emotionally “maxed out.” We go at a pace that feels manageable, and I adapt sessions to what you need that day—whether that’s stabilizing, processing, or problem-solving. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Many clients come in feeling unsure, guarded, or skeptical, and that’s okay. My role is to meet you where you are and help you move forward with clarity and intention.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with an initial session focused on understanding what’s bringing you in now, what you’ve tried before, and what you want to be different. This isn’t an interrogation or a checklist—it’s a conversation designed to help us identify priorities and set a direction that feels realistic and meaningful. Ongoing sessions are structured but flexible. We may explore emotional patterns, stress responses, relationships, work pressures, or long-standing beliefs that no longer serve you. I also integrate practical strategies to help manage anxiety, improve boundaries, and reduce overwhelm in day-to-day life. Therapy is not about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you function better in a world that is often demanding and unpredictable. Progress looks different for everyone, and we regularly check in to make sure our work continues to align with your goals.

More information on payments and coverage

Many clients choose to use insurance, while others prefer to pay privately for added flexibility. If you plan to use insurance, I verify coverage with my payment processors prior to our initial session to confirm in-network benefits. In some cases, this verification process may result in a brief delay and require rescheduling of the first appointment. If you have out-of-network benefits, I'm happy to provide a superbill for reimbursement. I'm always glad to answer questions in advance so you can choose the payment option that feels like the best fit for you.
