What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe meaningful therapy begins with compassion, curiosity, and the confidence that you won't be judged for who you are or what you've experienced. Whether you're carrying shame, questioning long-held beliefs, navigating relationship challenges, experiencing burnout, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to create a space where every part of you is welcome. My approach is thoughtful, reflective, and collaborative. Drawing from mindfulness, compassion-focused psychotherapy, existential therapy, and somatic approaches, I help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and nervous systems while developing practical ways to move toward the life they want. Rather than trying to "fix" you, we'll work together to better understand your experiences, cultivate self-compassion, and build lasting change. I have specialized training in religious trauma and am certified in Religious Trauma Studies through the Global Center for Religious Trauma Research. I also provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in partnership with Journey Clinical, integrating evidence-based preparation and integration to support clients for whom this approach is appropriate. My practice is sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and welcoming of people of every faith, no faith, or changing faith. I work comfortably with clients exploring gender, sexuality, consensual non-monogamy, kink, and other identities and relationship structures, as well as those healing from religious trauma, shame, burnout, or caregiving fatigue. Above all, I strive to offer a therapeutic relationship grounded in authenticity, respect, and genuine human connection. I see therapy as a place to slow down, become more deeply understood, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and the people who matter most.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I always aim to start without a stack of forms or an exhaustive retelling of your life story. While your history matters, I find it's often more helpful to start by getting to know you as a person and understanding what brings you to therapy now. Together we'll build a relationship that feels safe enough for curiosity, honesty, and meaningful change. I see you as the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you who you are or how you should live, but to bring my training, experience, and perspective alongside your own wisdom. Therapy works best as a collaborative process where we can explore what's happening in your life, make sense of patterns that no longer serve you, and discover new ways of responding with greater flexibility and self-compassion. Our work will be guided by your goals, your pace, and your values. Some sessions may focus on immediate challenges, while others may explore deeper questions about identity, relationships, meaning, or healing from past experiences. Along the way, I often incorporate mindfulness, compassion-focused psychotherapy, existential exploration, and body-based techniques to help clients better understand both their thoughts and their nervous systems. Rather than simply talking about problems, we'll practice new ways of relating to difficult emotions, shame, and stress. Above all, I strive to create a space where you don't have to perform, defend yourself, or worry about being judged. Whether you're navigating religious trauma, relationship concerns, burnout, questions of identity, or the ordinary difficulties of being human, my hope is that therapy becomes a place where you feel deeply understood and empowered to create lasting change.
