Getting to know Christian Younginer

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) who joined Concentric in Winter 2018. I hold an EdS in Counselor Education and a Bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina. I have experience providing individuals—adults and adolescents—groups, couples, and families with authentic and genuine therapy. My approach to therapy is guided by empathy, understanding, and meaning. I believe there is great power in uncovering one's meaning and purpose through introspection and knowing the self. Through therapy, one may find methods and techniques to quiet anxiety or cope with loss, but I also believe there is significant value in exploring the self. My priority in session is to provide a safe space for the client to feel and think as their genuine self. In session, I draw from humanistic/existential theories as well as a person-centered approach. Through these modalities, a client can expect to see a caring, empathic therapist who focuses on the "here and now" in session. These descriptors guide my hand as we work together to uncover and explore. I am also experienced in providing cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused work, should they be wanted. I believe the client has within them the means and ability to act with their own needs in mind to bring about change in their lives. Thus, I want to form a collaborative relationship with each client.
