Christina Ballard, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CT
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 19 years of experience working with kids, adults, and families. I take a down-to-earth, collaborative approach to therapy, meaning we work together to figure out what’s going on, what you need, and how to get you feeling more like yourself again. Whether you’re navigating big emotions, life transitions, or just feeling stuck, I’m here to support you every step of the way! You took the first step in this journey, and now the work begins. My goal is to help you obtain a better understanding of yourself and what you want to accomplish within our sessions. This includes navigating feelings and emotions and developing the tools to manage them, especially during difficult times. With a supportive, non-judgmental, and collaborative approach, my goal is to help you achieve what you have set out to accomplish. We got this! I work with kids, teens, adults, and families. I especially love supporting people during those “in between” moments of life, when things feel messy or uncertain. Maybe your child is having a tough time with big emotions, or maybe you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. I’m here to help you navigate it. I’ve spent over 19 years in schools, agencies, and private practice, and I’ve learned how to meet people exactly where they are, no matter the age or stage.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m warm, honest, and down-to-earth. You’ll find that I’m easy to talk to, and I make space for all parts of you, whether that’s laughter, tears, confusion, or hope. I bring a calm energy and I’m not afraid to be real with you. I’ll listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and give you feedback and guidance without judgment. I try to create a space that feels like a mix of comfort and clarity. We’ll start by getting really clear on what you want to work on and what feeling better looks like for you. From there, I’ll help you set meaningful, realistic goals, and we’ll check in regularly to make sure we’re on the right track. I’ll offer tools and strategies that make sense for your life, and I’ll be honest with you if something isn’t working. My job is to support your progress and keep our work focused, flexible, and grounded in what you want to accomplish.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First sessions are all about getting to know each other. I want to hear what brought you in and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. We’ll talk through any questions or worries you have about the process, and I’ll share more about how I work. You don’t need to prepare anything, just come as you are. My goal is for you to walk away feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the work we’re going to do together.
