I'm a Licensed Certified Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from Union University, which is a fancy way of saying I've spent years studying the art of not judging you while you talk about your feelings. I'm experienced in helping people deal with addiction and recovery, 12-step programs as well as harm reduction, from mild to severe mental illness, and basically anything else that's causing you emotional pain. My approach As a therapist, I approach my work in a way that mirrors my personal approach to life, drawing heavily on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral skills, and short-term solution-focused therapy, as well as trauma-focused sensitivity in talk therapy. My focus I typically work with professionals, adults, and individuals seeking a holistic approach to mental health, incorporating mindfulness and coping skills development into therapy sessions to address anxiety, depression, and stress-related issues. My focus is on emotional well-being, and I am comfortable treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and general stress management concerns, tailoring treatment plans to each client's unique needs and situation. My communication style I strive to create a therapy environment where you feel understood, validated, and heard. My approach is down-to-earth, friendly, and free from the entanglements and expectations that can come with close friendships. My journey to mental healthcare I have a diverse history marked by personal struggles, including adoption, abandonment, abuse, addiction, and homelessness, but I've overcome many obstacles and continue to learn, grow, and recover, which has given me a unique perspective to help others do the same.
