Christina Castro, LPCC

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California (License #10716) and a licensed telehealth provider in Florida. I hold a Master's in Educational Counseling from the University of La Verne and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. For the past 9 years, I have worked with trauma survivors, supporting their healing and growth. If you have tried ECT, ketamine, or various medications without finding the relief you seek for anxiety and depression, I offer EMDR therapy for clients experiencing treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and pervasive anxiety. This approach targets the root causes of depression and anxiety that other treatments may not have resolved. I also work with individuals raised by narcissistic or emotionally unavailable parents who struggle with self-esteem and unhealthy relationships. What sets me apart is my expertise in Attachment-Focused EMDR, a gentle and effective therapy that combines attachment theory with EMDR techniques. This unique approach helps us address the underlying challenges, heal emotional wounds, and foster healthier connections with yourself and others. Remember, you are truly worthy of healing and a future filled with hope and brightness. I am here to walk alongside you on this journey, offering personalized support tailored just for you. Together, we will navigate your past, promote self-kindness, and build strength. Take that brave step toward healing-I look forward to meeting you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe that you are the expert on you. My role is to help you dig deep and begin to understand yourself better and uncover the roots of the patterns, feelings, and behaviors that keep you from having a meaningful relationship with yourself and others. I will ask questions and I will challenge you to answer authentically. I will also comfort you and hold a safe and non judgemental space for you when painful truths are revealed. Together we will put a plan of action in place so that you can heal from old wounds and discover a new way of living in the present with a positive outlook about your future.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

If you are a client that has chosen to use EMDR as part of your therapeutic process, we will move through the 8 phases of EMDR. Each session will begin with a check in about the best parts of your week and the most challenging parts of your week. We will explore reoccurring themes and choose a focus for EMDR or talk therapy. Whether or not we use EMDR, we will discuss current symptoms and the changes you'd like to see. When appropriate I may teach you mindfulness exercises that reduce anxiety and help you to be more present in your daily life. I will also provide psychoeducation on topics that a relevant to your challenges so that you gain a deeper understanding into your struggles.
