Getting to know Christina Gonzalez

I am a bilingual and bicultural Licensed Mental Health Counselor licensed in Florida with over 15 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. I earned my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University. I have worked around the world—in Mexico, the US, Germany, Japan—and in a wide variety of settings, including extensive work in community mental health, substance abuse/addictions, child welfare, and with military and veteran populations. My experience includes supporting clients with a broad range of concerns such as couples and relationship issues, anxiety, depression, immigration-related challenges, abuse and trauma, divorce and separation, and grief and loss. I have also worked extensively with the Marine Corps in force preservation and suicide prevention, as well as with other branches of the service both in the US and OCONUS. My counseling style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I do not believe in stigmatizing labels. I genuinely believe we can work together to find solutions for almost any problem and that we can emerge from challenges stronger and more resilient. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, mindfulness training, and other techniques. I have also incorporated many insights gained from my travels and interactions with psychology in other cultures into my extensive training. I tailor our interactions and treatment to help you meet your goals and work collaboratively with you every step of the way. It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps toward change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You will walk away from your first session feeling heard and understood, with a renewed sense of hope, and a goal that we will create together for our sessions together. As we work together, you can expect to have a safe space to share whatever is most important to you without judgment. We will work on helping you to heal any past wounds that might be interfering with you living a life that you love today and help you learn coping skills and mindfulness practices to help you be more resilient and more confident in creating a life that works for you.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Just very relatable and easy to talk to. I’m a quiet person so actually feeling confident within minutes of the first session was great.

my therapist was great. she took the time to listen to me, and guide me to realize what I didn't think about before when I talked about my issues. I appreciated her, and her insight,

She is a great listener but didn’t really provide me with any guidance. She also terminated our last call abruptly. If she needed to end early, she should have given me a heads up. Instead it was, “we have to wrap this up” and then click, call ended.

Dr. Christina is gentle and clear, she is all around any subject, problem, concern, feelings that I bring to her. I can talk to her with no worries or fear about everything and anything, her knowledge and experience is to the max. She has a solution for everything I bring to our therapy and her guidance is always over the top. Love her caring and advice.
I appreciate her directness and her ability to adapt to my needs, she is clear and very warm and has many tools to offer for my particular issues. She makes me feel empowered and heard.
I didn’t believe in therapy, so in carefully chose someone who aligned with my needs and background. Now I wish I would have started years before. She has been amazing!
She’s a warm, open minded, and humorous therapist. She was so easy to talk to. My therapy sessions would felt like talking to a friend, but because of that I didn’t feel like any progress was made in our sessions. She’s an amazing human being that treats you with a lot of grace, but I wanted someone who can hold me more accountable. Thank you for everything.
My husband and I found Dr. Gonzalez in a break or make point in our marriage. She literally saved our relationship and gave us a new perspective.
