*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* As someone who has struggled with anxiety and a highly sensitive nervous system, I know how important it is to learn as much about yourself as you can so you can understand what coping mechanisms work for you. I want to help you explore new ways to see your life and support you in alleviating and healing your emotional suffering. In a safe space where you can share your true self, you can begin your journey toward optimal living. There is so much healing that comes from simply being able to speak your truth. Words have power, especially when said out loud. Growing up as a daughter of a scientist, I believe in using evidence-based practices. Beyond talk therapy, approaches like CBT, DBT, and exposure response prevention provide the next step toward action. I can help you set manageable and achievable goals to become the person you are truly meant to be. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master's in Experimental Neurosychology from Saint Joseph's University, which inform my approach and deepen my understanding of the mind and behavior. No matter what you're struggling with or how you identify, I am here to be your helpful guide on your journey through life. Said one of Christina's patients: “Christina knew exactly how to frame questions which made me think a little harder to provide the best answers. I look forward to continue seeing her.” Christina Mattschei has a Master’s in Counseling from Saint Joseph's University. Christina is a Counselor in Training, CIT at Cerebral. Supervised by Maria Bautista, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, LICSW 123165 (MA) and CW021328 (PA).

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of my clients struggle with anxiety and trauma and are open to approaches like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness. I am also interested in working with clients who are dealing with gut health issues exacerbated by stress, trauma, and anxiety. I am happy to work with spiritual and religious minorities and people from any spiritual background (agnostics and atheists are welcome too). I also love working with LGBTQ clients by providing a safe space to affirm and explore related issues.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

There is so much healing and medicine in simply being able to speak the truth - especially if it has never been spoken out loud before - in a completely safe space. This is where I believe the magic lies in talk therapy. It is my honor to be a supportive listener and witness to shared truths and respond with empathy and acknowledgment. We will work together as a team in alignment with therapeutic goals for growth and healing. While there is immense relief, catharsis, and growth from simply talking about a problem, this is sometimes not enough. Being a scientist's daughter, it has been really important to study and offer evidence-based approaches like CBT, DBT, and exposure response prevention, to name a few. If there is research to show that an approach can be reliably helpful to most people struggling with a particular issue, I am all for providing that approach!
