Christina Seward, LPC

Psychotherapist
TN
Hello, my name is Christina Seward and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Tennessee, Virginia, and Illinois. I have over 5 years of experience working in the mental health field and understand that we all have different goals for therapy. Whether yours is healing trauma, improving relationships or managing stress, your goals are important and deserve the time and effort that therapy requires. As a therapist, I believe that compassion, understanding, and trust are important in the therapist-client relationship. I aim to have that with each and every client I see. My therapeutic approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, as well as a client-centered approach, which focuses on learning and building a client's strengths, finding the potential for growth, and a client’s autonomy. My goal is to help client’s foster a better understanding of themselves, their emotions, and the world around them.

What should a new client know about working with you?

*Please fill out all paperwork at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. WE REQUIRE A CARD ON FILE for all clients in the event of late cancellation or no show. Failure to complete paperwork within the requested time frame WILL result in a rescheduled appointment.* I am a trained EMDR Therapist as well as being Level II Gottman certified for couples counseling. I enjoy helping people find new coping skills to manage the difficulties of life. I work with adults and have a diverse background of experience with trauma, addiction, anger, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, and relationship problems. I approach people with a non-judgmental, inclusive attitude, taking into consideration each client's culture and personal background. Together, we explore emotions and identify thoughts, feelings and behaviors that might be holding you back. By recognizing and understanding these barriers, individuals can be empowered to make decisions toward a more balanced life. It takes a great deal of courage to ask for help and every person deserves to feel safe, seen, and heard.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For every client at Loving Counseling, we begin with an intake to gather necessary information about our client's history. This can include everything from family dynamics (current and past), family history of mental illness, current and historic stressors, major life events, current symptoms, family history of suicidality, and more. After the intake, the first session with clients we begin treatment planning and go from there to determine client readiness to tackle issues.
