Christina Tuman, LMFT

Christina Tuman, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 10 years of experience working with people of all ages and backgrounds, helping them develop the tools they need to thrive! I know how challenging it can be when life throws us a curveball and we don't know how to handle it, so I strive to provide an empathic and supportive space to help you through it and to the other side. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from Vanguard University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation to support my clients effectively. I have worked with children, adolescents, teenagers, and adults facing challenges such as substance abuse, depression, anxiety, trauma, Christian/spiritual struggles, bereavement/grief, postpartum struggles, and women's issues. Although I don't specialize in one specific treatment style, I tend to lean toward a solution-focused approach. I am passionate about using cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to help clients make the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and I also appreciate the value of the psychodynamic approach. Life can often knock us down, but we don't have to stay there. I'm here to help you lift yourself up!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to help you feel heard and understood. I take a collaborative strength-based approach to therapy, which means we will work together to explore your goals and identify individual strategies that work best for you. Therapy is a personal journey, and we will go at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In the beginning we focus on building our therapeutic relationship, helping us create a plan for our work together. Sessions will be guided by your needs and goals as we will explore your thoughts, emotions and behaviors as we introduce tools and/or strategies that may support you. As we proceed, we will reflect on your progress, as the goal is help you feel supported while building the skills and insights you need to create a healthier life.
