Getting to know Christine Dapaah-Afriyie
As someone who loves reading, I conceptualize therapy as an opportunity for one to truly dive into their story.
Drawing from my foundational education in sociology, I believe that we are all social beings, meaning that our lived experiences inform how we view ourselves, others, and the world. Too often, many of us have internalized beliefs about ourselves from negative and
harmful experiences. Following this, our sense of self can only be rebuilt in the manner in which it was harmed – in relationship with another. Aligning with a psychosocial lens of healing, I believe that the therapeutic alliance serves as a space for restorative healing.
My hope is that allclients obtain an authentic, embodied sense of self and a story that truly feels like theirs.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach to therapy is grounded in evidence-based modalities. I have clinical experience working with the following DSM-5-TR diagnostic categories: Anxiety Disorder, Depressive Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, and Trauma- and Stressor-related Disorders. With interventions and treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs of clients, along with the necessary inclusion of evidence-based treatment strategies.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Our first 2 sessions, I will get to know you and what brings you in to therapy, we will then set a treatment plan with measurable goals for us to track your progress.
