Getting to know Christine Evensen

Hi there, I'm Christine! Hi, my name is Chris Evensen, LMFT license #50460, working in Telehealth statewide in California. I hold a Master's in Counseling from the California Institute of Integral Studies. I work with adults and primarily use a Humanistic approach to therapy with the goal of helping my clients increase their coping skills while letting go of negative self-beliefs and patterns of behavior that prevent them from living their lives to the fullest. My approach My approach to therapy is client-driven. I listen carefully and encourage my clients to tell me what they need from therapy, and collaboratively we work toward meeting those needs. I use CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, as well as Rational Emotive Therapy. My focus I typically work with clients who are struggling to cope with how they feel or who are in challenging life transitions. The areas I focus on in my practice include depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, and body positivity issues. My communication style I am a compassionate therapist with a gentle communication style. I know it can be difficult to open up to a therapist, so my goal is to create a safe environment for my clients to express themselves. My journey to therapy I became a therapist because I recognize that it can be really challenging to manage how we feel, but with support, we can build strong coping skills and live healthy, fulfilled lives. My goals for you I use Motivational Interviewing and Stage-Based interventions, which are therapeutic approaches that encourage clients to identify their goals and the steps they need to take to achieve them. My first session with you In the first session, I ask questions about what brings you to therapy and what I can do to support you. I also ask about what is going well in your life and what you are struggling with. My goal is to begin a collaborative process that we can build on.
