“Very professional and I can tell she is very knowledgeable on EMDR therapy. However, during my appointment I found it hard to finish my thought before she interrupted which in turn caused confusion on what I was trying to say. There was a point where she made a comment about how important it is to believe in god when starting your therapy journey…which was a bit off putting to me. I also felt judged by her for some of the choices I make/made such as substance use, intimate partners, and coping tactics. Unfortunately I decided to not continue with her because of those reasons, I go to therapy to get help not to be judged.”

Trauma isn't caused by an event that happens TO you; it's caused by what happens INSIDE you because of the event. It's created in how your nervous system shuts down or revs up and the thoughts and feelings you rehearse over and over again about the event. That creates a new sense of "knowing" that now guides your current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, shaping how you live in and experience the world and the people around you. I hold a Master’s in Counseling from the University of North Florida, and using EMDR along with other evidence-based approaches, I can help you reprocess those past experiences so they are not so disturbing and don’t have such a powerful hold over you. This will open the door for you to gain new insight and learn effective skills that enable you to experience the world in a whole new way! I would love the opportunity to help you overcome challenges and find personal growth through them, unlocking the door to a more fulfilling and joyful life! You CAN heal from your past! And you can make a conscious effort to learn from your experiences, do things differently, and create a brighter future not only for yourself but for generations to come!
