Psychotherapist
IL
I have over 20 years of experience working with people of all ages during difficult times in their lives, including helping those dealing with postpartum and perinatal struggles, relationship challenges from dating to marriage, as well as grief and loss. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support individuals facing depression, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. I’m passionate about helping you along your journey and specialize in assisting those who may not yet be sure what their goals are. Every experience is unique, and I’m here to help you assess your situation and guide you through the path ahead. Sharing vulnerable thoughts and feelings with a new person can be difficult, but I am experienced in helping people feel comfortable and confident. Together, we will explore your circumstances, identify unhelpful thought patterns, and develop steps to address challenges as effectively as possible. Discussing these matters in a safe and supportive environment is essential. I enjoy working with people who may be different from me and who might have trouble advocating for themselves. I bring a wealth of skills, tools, and resources to help you overcome obstacles, find a sense of empowerment, and establish habits that allow you to experience greater presence and fulfillment in life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have a caring and nurturing style that can be as directive as needed to help you move closer to your goals. I am a human first, therapist second, and I don't expect any of my clients to be perfect or even strive for perfection. What we strive for is positive change!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first couple of sessions are spent helping me understand your presenting problems, then defining your goals. Once we are both on the same page in terms of the work that you'd like to do, we will explore thoughts and beliefs related to yourself and your relationships, discovering which ones may be contributing to your struggles. I have a wealth of knowledge of coping skills and mindfulness strategies to help you manage an acutely difficult situation, while keeping longer term goals in mind as well.
