Christine Tronge, LCSW

Psychotherapist
1885 The Alameda, Suite 100-F, San Jose, CA
I’m a licensed clinical social worker with nearly 30 years of experience helping adults navigate complex emotional landscapes, including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and major life transitions. My work is grounded in evidence-based practice, but also deeply human—therapy, to me, is both a science and an art. I aim to provide care that is not only effective but also respectful, compassionate, and thoughtfully attuned to each individual’s unique needs and background. I work primarily with high-functioning adults and professionals who often present as capable and composed, yet feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected internally. Many of my clients are navigating the pressure of demanding careers, personal loss, relationship strain, or unresolved past experiences. Whether you’re looking to reduce symptoms, explore deeper emotional patterns, or move forward after a difficult period, my goal is to help you feel more clear, grounded, and empowered in your life. My practice is integrative and draws from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, psychodynamic theory, and existential perspectives. I also incorporate culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches when appropriate. All appointments are conducted using HIPAA-compliant systems, and I offer supplemental resources to support your growth between sessions. If you're seeking a thoughtful, experienced therapist who brings both structure and insight, I welcome the opportunity to support your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy is a big step, and I approach that with care and respect. I know it takes time to build trust, so I won’t rush the process—but I do provide structure, focus, and active engagement from the start. I’m not a passive therapist who simply listens and nods. I ask thoughtful questions, offer observations, and work collaboratively with you to clarify goals and move toward meaningful change. My clients often come in feeling overwhelmed, emotionally stuck, or unsure how to move forward. Some have tried therapy before but felt it lacked depth or direction. Others are brand new to the process. Either way, I strive to meet you where you are—with professionalism, curiosity, and genuine interest in who you are beyond the problem that brought you in. Early sessions are focused on helping you feel understood while also starting to identify themes, patterns, and possible points of intervention. I’ll help you articulate not just what hurts—but what matters to you, what you want more of, and where you may be getting in your own way. Sessions tend to be structured but flexible, a space where insight and strategy meet. I maintain strong professional boundaries and believe that clarity is a form of respect. I do not offer free consultations; all appointments are clinical time. I value transparency, consistency, and mutual accountability in the therapeutic relationship. Therapy with me is an active process—both thoughtful and practical—and I will walk alongside you with honesty and care as we work toward your goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is both grounded and adaptive. In our first few sessions, I focus on getting a full picture of who you are—not just the problem that brought you in. That includes understanding your history, strengths, current stressors, and the patterns that may be affecting your well-being. I’ll ask questions, but I also listen closely to what’s said (and unsaid), so we can begin identifying themes and priorities early on. Once we’ve clarified your goals, I’ll offer a plan for how we might structure the work together. For some, that includes practical tools or skills to manage anxiety, mood, or overwhelm. For others, it may involve deeper work around meaning, grief, boundaries, identity, or unresolved trauma. Most often, it’s both. I’ll guide you in exploring what’s driving emotional pain while also helping you develop strategies for change in the present. Sessions typically include a mix of active reflection, skill-building, and inquiry. I may draw from cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, or insight-based approaches depending on what’s most useful for you. I offer feedback, but I also create space for you to think, feel, and arrive at your own conclusions. My goal is not to impose direction but to help you find clarity and momentum on your own terms. I check in regularly about how therapy is going so we can make adjustments if needed. This is your time, and I see myself as a collaborative partner in the process—someone who brings expertise, but also humility, curiosity, and respect.
