Christine Weible-Cruz, LCSW

Psychotherapist
25 E Washington St., Chicago, IL
I’m Christine Weible-Cruz (it’s pronounced WHY-bull—something people often ask!), a depth-oriented psychotherapist helping individuals and couples uncover what’s been getting in the way of connection, clarity, and emotional freedom. I’m here for the parts of you that feel stuck, conflicted, or longing for something more. My approach is grounded, attuned, and collaborative. I bring together psychoanalytic theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Gottman Method to create space for deep exploration and practical growth. At CWC Psychotherapy, I help creative, self-aware adults who feel emotionally stuck or stretched thin in relationship patterns begin to untangle what’s keeping them from living more freely. Together, we create room to listen inward—to the parts of you that have been overlooked, quieted, or long misunderstood. And from that understanding, something begins to shift. Gently. Deeply. Lastingly. Whether you're coming in for individual therapy or couples work, I bring a hopeful and honest style of working that draws from psychoanalytic and psychodynamic insight, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method. I welcome and affirm all constellations of relationship, whether queer, straight, monogamous, polyamorous, or anywhere in between. This work is grounded in the belief that love and healing are not one-size-fits-all.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy is deeply personal, and I believe it's important to know what values guide our work together. Below are the principles that shape how I show up as a therapist—holding space for healing, exploration, and transformation. **Emotional Depth & Insight** We go beneath the surface to understand the deeper emotional roots of your struggles and patterns that may keep you stuck. Together, we explore unconscious dynamics, relational wounds, and longings that shape your world. Insight becomes a foundation for lasting transformation. **Connection & Intimacy** Healing happens through relationship—presence, safety, and emotional attunement. I hold space for connection that allows you to feel seen, softened, and more fully yourself. Intimacy isn't a goal we chase—it's something we create together, moment by moment. **Hopeful Honesty** I believe in truth-telling rooted in care. Therapy is both gentle and direct: we make space for what's real, even when it's hard to name. I hold your pain with compassion while offering clarity and structure to help you move forward. This is a space where change is possible. **Integrity of Self** Many people arrive to therapy feeling disconnected from who they truly are. We make space to return to your center—loosening perfectionism's grip, softening self-blame, and reconnecting with your values and voice. My goal is supporting you in building a grounded, honest, alive relationship with yourself. **Inclusivity & Cultural Humility** You are welcome here—fully. I honor your identities, relationships, and lived experiences with cultural humility and ongoing reflection. This is a space for real dialogue, complexity, and respect.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t even need to know exactly what’s wrong. Therapy creates space to ask the harder, deeper questions—and to discover that you’re not broken, just in need of understanding. This therapy often begins by talking about what’s on your mind—your relationships, dreams, worries, memories, or even what feels hard to say. We pay attention not only to the content, but also to the patterns and emotional undertones. Over time, these conversations begin to reveal how past experiences are alive in the present. We notice defenses (ways of handling emotions or relationships that developed early and unconsciously) that once protected you but now hold you back. We explore unconscious beliefs about yourself, others, and your worth. And we do this with patience, insight, and care. There’s no rigid structure or checklist. Instead, we build a relationship where you can speak freely, think deeply, and begin to hear your own voice more clearly. This work is about becoming more fully who you are—less driven by fear, more connected to your feelings, and more able to live from a place of authenticity, depth, and self-acceptance. Depth work opens the door to healing, integration, and meaningful change.
