Getting to know Christopher Cooke

My journey to becoming an LMFT began with a deep desire to walk alongside people going through their most painful and challenging life experiences. Having multiple family members receive hospice care gave me a personal understanding of both the darkness associated with grief and the inevitability of light once the work is undertaken. It was actually my time interning at Hospice of SLO County that truly sealed my path. Working directly with patients and families during end-of-life transitions showed me, in the most real and humbling way, how transformative compassionate, skilled support can be when someone is facing loss, death, and dying. After completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Pepperdine University, I chose to specialize in grief and loss, trauma, relational strife (including infidelity and divorce), and major life transitions. I’m especially passionate about supporting veterans, active-duty service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders, who often carry unique stressors and sacrifices that require specialized understanding and care. Becoming a therapist allows me to combine my personal experiences, clinical training, and genuine commitment to walking with people as they move through darkness and into healing, rebuilding, and renewed purpose.
