Getting to know Christopher Dagostino

Over the years, I’ve found that many people seeking therapy are looking for relief from anxiety, depression, or simply trying to navigate the hurdles of everyday life. I work with individuals aged 14 and up, and welcome people of all races, genders, sexualities, and relationship structures. I’m LGBTQIA+ and Poly/ENM-affirming. As a therapist, I believe in the uniqueness of every individual and the power of a personalized, nuanced approach to healing. Through collaborative conversation, I draw on a variety of therapeutic methods to develop a plan that best fits your needs and goals. I prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship where you feel seen, heard, and valued for who you are. My approach is rooted in the belief that you are the expert in your own life. I’m here to support and guide you through challenges, help you tap into your strengths, and foster growth—at your own pace.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First, we would explore the reason(s) that brought you to therapy, then we will decide the most appropriate treatment goals together. I like to use traditional psychoanalytic approaches throughout the session, and sometimes can uses techniques and strategies from Cognitive Behavior Therapy. While using CBT, you will learn to challenge your thought patterns; recognize them as they're happening, and challenge them in an effort to make yourself feel better moving forward. Overall, I like to describe my approach as "eclectic"- a person centered, strengths based, motivational interviewing style of conversation that helps you connect the past, with the present, feelings and emotions with thought patterns, and how all of your experiences shape you into the person you are today.
