“I have worked with Christopher for over a year and am very pleased I met him. He is thoughtful and flexible in his approach to therapy. He is also very effective and has earned my trust and respect both as a therapist and as a person. He listens, cares, and provides balanced and practical advice. I also find that he is intellectually honest and, although gentle and non-judgmental, will be straight with me about how I can make improvements. My life has improved significantly since working with Christopher and the more I work with him, the more impactful our sessions have become. I recommend him wholeheartedly.”

Getting to know Christopher Rushton

Working on the frontlines - after 9/11, Sandy, on Rikers Island - my training at Columbia, and my own personal tragedies have prepared me for this. But I do not have all the answers. You, on the other hand, likely hold the keys that you'll need to open the door. Licensed in New York and New Jersey. A bit about my approach to therapy... Adler believed your Earliest Recollections can provide a window into who you really are. ERs can provide keys to solving problems you are facing today. Jung believed your dreams and fantasies provide an avenue to your personal unconscious and the Collective Unconscious. The meaning of your life can be found in your Personas, your Shadow, Archetypes, and your true Self. Find your purpose...Reclaim your past...Determine your future. Free 15-minute intro session. What you can expect from our sessions... Life coaching will help you to recognize your life stage and the milestones ahead. It will help you to develop and practice coping skills to deal with anxiety, depression, and anger. It will give you the tools you need to work, to love, and to succeed. Deep Work can provide insight to help you to overcome trauma - to reassert your sense of dignity and Real Self.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I tell all my clients to take everything I say with a grain of salt: I do not have all the answers. You, on the other hand, likely hold the keys that you'll need to open the door. Let’s find those keys; let’s open the door.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First, with the most effective skills, you better manage the day-to-day anger, depression or anxiety. Second, you explore events that are replaying in your memories, thoughts, words, and actions. With insight, you gain power over these events. You disrupt the patterns and real change occurs. Finally, you discover a new sense of identity and purpose.

Super comfortable session, very easy to open up to.

He has no training in recognizing the subtle nuances or even potentially glaring red flags that indicate one sided abuse in relationships. He is not a crisis high conflict couples therapist. If you suspect or know that you are being abused on some level by your partner, then please do not book with him.

His office emailed me and asked me to fill out information, which I did, and then they ghosted me with no explanation. Not even the courtesy to cancel the appointment.

I love my conversations with Christopher. There is something very comforting to me about his true calling and passion in helping others. His approach, combined with exquisite empathy, makes you feel cared for, and that is key to establishing trust. I feel there is strong passion and innocence in his personality, in the sense that the tremendous work he has done, has not changed that initial passion and purity of intent. He loves nature and animals and that to me is also a sign of his sensibility and artistic approach to life and his work.
Chris is a fantastic couples therapist. If I could give him 10 stars I would. My husband and I look forward to each session, and we have been working with him for over a year. He is very professional and always coming up with creative ways for my husband and I to problem solve and get to know each other better. We have learned so much from our sessions and are grateful that we found him when we did. If you are looking for a couples therapist, you have found one of the best !
Crush is great! He's helped me work through a tremendous amount of family conflict with grace and kindness. His grasp on masculine is a great asset and the patience he brings to his practice has helped me grow exponentially in less than year. Would highly recommend him for boys/men who feel lost and seek a greater sense of self-awareness and personal values.
Chris changed my life. He helped me turn around my history of bad relationship decisions, opened my mind, and helped me put my shattered self back together, while removing the parts that no longer served me. I highly recommend him to any man stuggling ot those looking to improve. 2 years later and I continue to gain value in my career and developing better connections, without falling back into old patterns.
Have been working with Chris for two years and he is the best guy I know. Couldn’t speak more highly of him as a person or a professional if I tried. Has been an absolute pleasure working with Chris and truly growing to consider him a real friend these past 2 years. If you are struggling with anything at all from mental illness to trauma to physical ailments and everything in-between, have any uncertainties in life and need advice, or simply need someone to talk to - Chris is your guy. Hope you get to speak with him soon.
Dr. Rush was terrific for my first meeting with him. He is a really attentive listener, as well as empathetic to my needs and concerns. I very much look forward to continuing discussions with him, and have only very positive things to say about him.

Chris is a top-notch therapist. I came to Chris in crisis and at a tumultuous time in my life. Chris helped me learn to cope in a healthy way, develop boundaries that kept me on track, and has brought me forward to a place of true peace. While I have a way to go, Chris has literally changed my life already. My relationships have improved significantly, my habits have gotten healthier, and I feel truly understood for the first time in my life. If you are willing to do the work, Chris will help you develop the blueprint to finding peace.
Christopher has been a truly huge help. He listens with intent and empathy, and creates a relationship that is adaptive to your specific needs. It is always clear that Christopher has thought through each discussion and is coming into the next session with flexible ideas about where to take the conversation. We've been able to focus on specific anxieties while also giving attention to the big picture. Highly recommend!
Chris was professional and real. Our sessions were super productive. He’s empathetic yet provides you with what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. He challenged me in ways that shifted my thinking…and it’s exactly what I needed. His sessions were purposeful, with a roadmap to address my main concerns. It wasn’t just a weekly “how are you?” with no direction for the appointment. He’s a great therapist who listens and gives you the tools to manage your trauma and lead a more fulfilling life.
I had a great experience working with Chris. He was thoughtful, respectful, and responsive. It was also great to engage in articles and exercises he sent me which was helpful in working towards my goals. I was thankful that he incorporated some goal-oriented structure at my request which helped me internalize our sessions.
Chris is very caring and able to listen to issues that are going on in our lives. He is very understanding with family relationships.
Chris is exactly the therapist I was looking for. I see him weekly and have seen marked improvements in my mental health. Thank you, Chris!
My visit with mr. Rush was so good that I am now seeing him weekly. He is kind, patient, caring, professional while at the same time keeping up my awareness about my attitudes habits and behaviors. There was a time not so long ago that I swore I couldn’t (wouldn’t) do therapy, but here I am every week learning more and more about myself, learning how to cope with issues that once were too scary or intimidating. Whether you are new to therapy or looking to continue with another therapist I would honestly say “Look no further, C Rushton is the one that you want!”
I feel a lot better after 2 meetings. I really think that Chris is the right therapist for me and I'm looking forward to continue working with him.
You can tell he really cares about his patients and made the effort to make me feel comfortable after expressing my concern if therapy was right for me. Talking comes naturally, and he listens while actively guiding you to self-discovery + solutions.

Although I initially wanted a female therapist, I chose the first available & I’m glad I did. I felt comfortable opening up to someone, finally. Pleasant first experience.
